Sri Bhakta Anjaneya Swamy Temple

Praised by Lord Sri Rama (the One whose name is constantly on his lips) as the Nava Vyakarana Pandita (master scholar of the nine notable Sanskrit grammar works), the one who is Eka Chakra dhari and is constantly dynamic, knows no rest or stagnation and travels continuously, the true witness to the universe, is Lord Hanuma, an ardent devotee of Lord Sri Rama Chandra.Being a pupil of the Sun God, he has learnt all the Vedas, Vedangas, Shastras which are the scriptures and sciences of wisdom.

An exquisitely artistic and intricately crafted single stone idol of Pavanaputra Hanuman stands at 32 feet height, weighing 272 tonnes. This idol is an art genre in itself.

It took five years to be able to find such a unique single piece of stone, transport it to Madanapalle and get the exquisite sculpture made. Some of the noteworthy features of the various parts of the idol are enumerated here. The Lord does not wear a crown. This is one of the rarest idols in the country and is becoming famous as the symbol of compassion.

The idol of Hanuma adorns the nine planets, (navagrahas) as a necklace. As He is a descendant of Rudra, one of the manifestations of Shiva, the idol has been sculpted as donning a shiva linga.  He wears strings of Rudraksha beads as garlands. Lord Hanuman manifests before us with folded hands, his shoulders bearing the divine stamp of Sri Sita Ramachandra and his right leg slightly bent as if to depict the attention and care with which he is ready to bestow his grace on those that come to seek his blessings. Sculpted with utmost brilliance and as if it has life breathed into it,  it appears not as an idol but as though Swami Hanuma himself is displaying his true form to all devotees who flock to him.

In order to be able to bear the weight of this magnificent idol, a firm and solid base (Peetham) is being prepared. This stone boulder measures 16x16x5 feet and weighs around 100 tonnes.
