Other Shrines

With the blessings of the divine Mother, various other sculptures are attaining shape and form at the temple premises. Over 15 idols have been completed so far, dedicated to various deities, each between 6 and 9 feet in height, made of black granite stone (Krishna Sila) exhibiting unparalleled artistic beauty and serving to guide devotees on the path of Mukti as well as grant them internal peace.

The disc of Lord Vishnu is a representation of light and sound. The name itself indicates “Su- darshan” Good Darshan. It protects the devotees who take refuge in Him and releases them from all kinds of bondage. Here, the idol is very huge and imposing and Lord Vishnu is represented with various weapons in His hands.

Narasimha

The Fourth Avatara of Lord Vishnu who blessed Prahlaada is shown as Yoga Murthy (Meditating form). Prayers to him cure worldly ills.

उग्रम वीरम महा विष्णुम ज्वलंतम सर्वतोमुखम

Sri Rama

A very fine depiction in stone of Bhadradri Rama seated on a lotus holding disc and conch accompanied by Sita in his lap and his brother Lakshmana standing beside him. One offering prayers to Rama not only pleases Rama, but also his great devotee Bhakta Hanuma.

Venkateswara

An imposing idol of the Kaliyuga devata with a pleasant smile, with his  right palm pointing downwards as if to show that the path to salvation was at his feet.

The sculptor has beautifully carved the 10 incarnations (Dasavataras) of Lord Vishnu in the same idol stone face, which in itself is a sight to behold.

Dattatreya

An incarnation of the Trinity together, the idol Dattatreya is served by 4 Vedas in the form of dogs. He has a smile on his face, as if eager and ready to bless the devotees and remove ignorance of those visiting the temple premises of Jaganmatha.

Guruda

The beloved and trusted vehicle of Lord Vishnu, is Garuda. His nose is typically curved and sharp as expertly sculpted by the artist. He is bedecked with 9 serpents signifying his power to dispel the naga dosha.

One can perform pooja to Garuda and be rid of Naaga Dosha and the misfortune it is believed to bring.

Sri Durga

The destroyer of demon Mahishasura and the protector of the 3 lokas, Sri Mahishasura Madhini, sculpture with unbelievable brilliance and dedicated workmanship.

The small hole pored through the nose to allow the nose ring to go through without cracking the stone is a treat for the eyes. It is as though the Goddess herself gave permission to the sculptor to pierce her nose.

She stands in a unrelenting stone but with great compassion. One is reminded of the melodious yet powerful, Bhakta Varadayini stotram on Mahishasura mardini rendered by Sri Adi Sankaracharya, when medidating on the idol.

Gayatri Mata

The Goddess with five heads, Mukta (Mother of pearl), Coral (Vidruma), Hema (golden), Neela (blue), Dhavala (white) signifying the four vedas and the Almighty himself.
